Are you trying to lose 30 pounds in 30 days?

Your 30 days are almost up. Have you reached your goal? Chances are you haven’t. Don’t beat yourself up too much. Thirty pounds in 30 days is not realistic. Most health professionals agree that 1-2 pounds is a safe amount of weight to lose per week.

As a personal trainer, I’ve seen it too many times. Clients come to meet with these crazy goals to lose a significant amount of weight in such as short amount of time, or they want to run a sub-20 minute 5k when they can hardly break a 9-minute mile.

While I always recommend setting your goals high, you also need to be realistic. Sometimes we all need a bit of a reality check. Goal setting and planning is an essential part of the weight loss progress. Whether it’s losing 50 pounds or running a marathon, your goals need to be SMART.

SMART goal setting is a commonly used method of setting realistic and trackable goals and objectives to ensure you succeed. Often utilized in the corporate world, SMART goal setting is one of the most efficient and often overlooked methods used in the fitness industry.
