Slash Face Fat Tip 1: Clean Up Your Diet
Ditch diet enemies such as salt and sugar, which are known to increase bloating, leaving you feeling (and looking!) puffy. Opt for whole, unprocessed foods over sodium- and sugar-laden packaged and prepared foods. High-sodium foods can trigger water retention, which can balloon you up. According to the CDC, about 90% of Americans consume more sodium than is recommended for a healthy diet (2,300 mg per day for most people; 1,500 mg for adults over 50, and people with diabetes, high blood pressure and high risk of hypertension). Sodium sneaks its way into most processed and packaged foods, so if you find yourself having had too much salt, increase your water intake to flush it out. Lessening the amount of bloat-inducing ingredients you eat is an easy, quick way to reduce puffiness. Also, try adding anti-bloat foods to your menu. Foods that can help prevent bloating include asparagus, blueberries, cucumbers, watermelon, avocados, papayas and bananas. These types of potassium-rich fruits and vegetables are also very hydrating.
Slash Face Fat Tip 2: Flush Fat In A Flash
Flushing out the system by hydrating with a juice cleanse is one of the quickest ways to shed facial fat. Even a one- to three-day juice cleanse will help you shed water weight. Losing up to ten pounds of water weight in a brief period of time will dramatically slim the facial profile, eliminating puffy cheeks or a bloated jawline.
Also, be sure to drink plenty of water. While it sounds counter-intuitive, the more hydrated you are, the less your body will bloat or retain water. Staying properly hydrated is essential, especially before and after a sweat-soaked workout or a steamy summer day. Sweating is the body’s way of detoxifying, however, it also leads to a loss of fluids and essential electrolytes. As you drink water and rehydrate the body, it learns there’s no longer a risk of dehydration; thus, the body will release retained fluids, leading to reduced swelling, including the face.
Slash Face Fat Tip 3: Give Yourself A Facial Massage
Excess fluid buildup may cause swelling on your face and neck. Massages stimulate healthy blood circulation, assist in draining lymphatic build-up and lessen fluid retention. Regular facial massages can reduce the appearance of fat in the cheeks, slimming and sculpting the jawline.
Slash Face Fat Tip 4: Exercise Your Facial Muscles
Yes, it sounds and looks silly to workout the muscles of the face. But, strengthening and stretching these facial muscles can create the look of a slimmer silhouette, sculpted cheekbones and a defined jawline. Try any (or all) of the following exercises to visibly tone and firm facial skin.
Eradicate the dreaded double (or, worse, triple) chin by stretching and strengthening muscles in the jaw, throat and neck. Do this exercise by pursing lips as if you’re about to kiss someone, tilting head towards the ceiling. Hold for 10 seconds; repeat 10 times.
Practice this position for 10 to 15 seconds; relax, then repeat 10 times. Start by lifting your lower lip to push the lower jaw out as much as possible, stretching chin muscles and jawline.
This exercise firms loose skin in the neck and face. Begin by looking straight ahead and placing fingers at the base of your neck. Tilt head back, massaging skin on neck to stretch the muscles. Bring head back to its normal position and repeat as needed.
This stretches and strengthens the muscles around lips, jaws and cheeks. Begin by sitting or standing straight, open and close jaw with your lips closed. Do this five times. Next, open your mouth wide and press your tongue against your bottom teeth, holding for five seconds.
Tone and stretch cheek and muscles by sucking in the cheeks and simultaneously smiling for five seconds.
Work the muscles around eyes and eyebrows to reduce puffiness, firm drooping eyelids and diminish crow’s feet. Press both middle fingers together at the bridge of the nose, between the inner corner of eyebrows. Use both index fingers to apply pressure to the outer corners of your eyebrows. Then, look towards the ceiling and raise your lower eyelids to squint. Hold this for a few seconds and relax; repeat five times and conclude by squeezing eyes shut for 10 seconds.
Incorporate any of all of these ideas into your daily routine and a slim, sculpted look will be yours in no time. Now, you can nix the the duck face and update your profile pictures with a lean, toned face!
