Tips and Advice for Flexibility Beginners

Some people are just naturals. Maybe they are a natural at a particular sport, at cooking or working with people. The same goes for flexibility…to a degree. There are naturally flexible people and some who tend to be pretty tight all over but the latter it doesn’t have to be destined for a life of stiffness. The problem is that the people who are naturally flexible are the ones who tend to like stretching so the flexible get bendier and the inflexible tend to get tighter…until they get an injury and finally head to a yoga or stretch class. Of course, this is the dramatic extreme but some version of this happens all too often in studios and gyms everywhere.

One of the biggest barriers for those who consider themselves as tight is that they must already be bendy to attend a flexibility-based class. Not true at all. Just like you can increase strength with weight training or increase endurance with cardiovascular exercise, you can also improve flexibility with regular stretching and a healthy, well-rounded fitness routine should include all three aspects of fitness.
